ULTRA-RARE! Pair Norman Bel Geddes Simmons Art Deco Dressers 1930’s Bedroom Set in West Hollywood, California

$3,400

ULTRA-RARE!

Matched Pair Norman Bel Geddes Simmons Art Deco Dressers 1938.This is nearly impossible to find! A matched pair of the TALL CHESTS (HIGHBOY DRESSERS) in the creamy butter yellow color with chrome accents and the original reddish-orange Bakelite ?/metal pulls. These are in remarkable overall condition for their (unrestored) age — but that said, they are 85 years vintage, so there will be the usual dings and scratches. (Most noticeable on the dresser tops), but expect the usual signs of wear.

See photos.

PLEASE NOTE: We will be listing these dressers separately as well - as an option - so any buyer who wants this MATCHED PAIR

(which is extremely desirable for a collector who has both the funds and the space, as well as likely a greater boon for the 1st Dibs dealers who have purchased from us in the past), act FAST! The monumental Lucien Gibert

sculpture is NOT included.

;-)

For those who are interested, it will be listed SOON.

Drawers open and close smoothly (mostly) — a couple do stick and could use a bit of WD-40 /TLC, and one requires an inner bracket slider to be put back in. (It’s shown in the photo of the top drawer). We’ve used these for cumbersome office and art supplies and heavy tech items, and they do the job. These pieces are HEAVY (even empty). We estimate each weighs at least 80 pounds. Hence,

even with the furniture sliders under them, we can’t move these too far away from the wall due to the weight and the carpeted floor.

So we can’t do outdoor photographs, but if you wish more pics (with flash or without), please message. Also, regarding the heavy nature of these, they are for LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. Buyers are free to arrange shipping with uShip or any other company, or pick up themselves, but we ourselves are unable to move the items. (We know a few movers we have used in the past, but any recommendation is strictly an opinion, and all risk / liability falls upon the buyer). A minimum of two STRONG movers is required, as there are stairs. (The drawers do all come out which makes the piece a bit lighter, but we would still suggest two movers). Please ask all questions prior to purchase as we do not accept returns.

Payment due within 72 hours.

Please also check our other listings! In the coming weeks, we will be offering several other prized 1920’s - 1930’s Art Deco pieces, including sculptures by ALEXANDRE OULINE, LUCIEN GIBERT, JEAN DE RONCOURT, MAX LE VERRIER, a silver tea/coffee set, a set of modernist flatware, cocktail cups from Maison Desny, a suite of portraits / lithographs by Wyndham Lewis, photographs and photogravures, drawings and paintings, a pair of shagreen leather screens, as well as a Norman Bel Geddes for Revere cocktail tray and pitcher/ glasses, tables and chairs by Wolfgang Hoffmann and Alfons Bach (Royalchrome, Lloyd).
